Gatehood ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following information when you use Gatehood:
- Account information — name, email address, and profile photo from Google Sign-In
- Community profile — tower, floor, flat number, and owner/tenant status that you provide during onboarding
- Phone number — provided voluntarily for WhatsApp contact by neighbours
- Posts and listings — content, photos, and descriptions you post on the platform
- Usage data — pages visited, features used, and interactions within the app
- Device information — device type, operating system, and app version for technical support
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account and community membership
- To display your listings to verified neighbours in your community
- To send you relevant notifications about your posts and community activity
- To improve the platform and fix technical issues
- To send transactional emails (post expiry reminders, enquiry alerts, welcome messages)
3. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in these limited cases:
- With your community — your name, flat number, and listings are visible to verified members of your gated community
- With service providers — Firebase (Google) for hosting, authentication, and database; Resend for transactional email; Razorpay for payments
- When required by law — if compelled by a valid legal process
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on Google Firebase infrastructure located in the asia-south1 region (Mumbai, India). We use Firebase Authentication, Firestore security rules, and HTTPS encryption to protect your data. We retain your data for as long as your account is active.
5. Your Rights
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Withdraw consent for non-essential communications

6. Cookies and Local Storage
We use browser localStorage to store your community preference and session state. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. Firebase may set cookies for authentication purposes.
7. Children's Privacy
Gatehood is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.
8. Push Notifications
If you grant permission, we may send push notifications about activity in your community. You can withdraw this permission at any time in your device settings.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of Gatehood after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
Terms of Use
By using Gatehood you agree to the following:
- You are a verified resident or authorised representative of a gated community
- You will not post false, misleading, or fraudulent listings
- You will not harass, abuse, or misuse contact information of other residents
- You will not use the platform for commercial spam or unsolicited promotion
- Gatehood reserves the right to remove listings or accounts that violate these terms
- Transactions between neighbours are conducted independently — Gatehood is not a party to any sale
Gatehood is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any disputes arising between users of the platform.
